Types of hearing aids
There are 2 main types of hearing aids — behind-the-ear (BTE) and in-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids.
Behind-the-ear (BTE)
- Traditional behind-the-ear (BTE)
The speaker for this type of hearing aid is situated in the body of the device. - Receiver-in-canal (RIC)/ Receiver-in-the-ear (RITE)
The speaker for this hearing aid is attached to a wire which goes into the ear.
In-the-ear (ITE)
- In-the-canal (ITC)
ITC hearing aids are slightly bigger in size as compared to CIC hearing aids. - Completely-in-canal (CIC)
CIC hearing aids are designed in the shape and size of the ear canal. - Invisible-in-the-canal (IIC))
